A Little Something for the SA Member Bloggers

A little bit of news to pass along to all of the SA bloggers that I hope you'll like and will give you an opportunity to possibly

snowflake some extra income each year.

If you have a Google Adsense account, you can now place your code in so all the advertising on your blog will now be yours. This includes all the old posts that you have written in the past.

To do this, go to "Control Panel" and then click the "Change my Blog Settings" link. About 3/4 of the way down the page you will see and "Ads" section where you can input your Google Adsense ID. Once placed in, any ad revenue that you earn will go to you.

If you don't have an Adsense account, but want to get one, you can learn more at the

Would you know where we can find our Google Ad Sense ID? I thought it was my email address that i use to log in there, but I see you've got a number in the box....

Simply log into your adsense account and at the top right of the page will be a "Publisher ID" That is what you input.

Thanks, Jeffrey! I'd love a few more snowflakes.

Thanks, I found it. Smile Smile
I have yet to earn a penny from my Google gardening blog, but it's partly becus they don't issue a check until you've earned at least $100.

Creditcardfree, what is your Google blog? I'd be happy to pay a visit and add a snowflake!

@PatientSaver, I don't have a google blog...yet! However, I should be able to get a adsense account to add to my blog here. At least that is how I understand it.

@creditcardfree -- yes, you simply need to sign up with adsense to do that.

Someone pm'd me asking where these ads are. There are two adsense ads on your blogs. One is at the end of each post which you all should be able to see. There is also one in the sidebar at the top that is seen only by those people not signed in (so you won't usually see it, but you can if you want by signing out) that visit your blog. Both these will contain your code once you have made the change described above.

If anyone is having any other issues with this or has questions, please let me know.

Yay! I remember you talking about doing something like this for us a number of years ago. Big Grin I'm excited to see how long it'll take to get to $100. Big Grin Big Grin
    Thanks!!

I was denied by Google for an Adsense account, stating "site does not comply with Google policies." Any thoughts on why that would be? Is it my links to Swagbucks and other reward sites?

hmmmm, let me talk to Nate about it and see if we can think of a reason of why this might have happened...

  13. PatientSaver Says:

I was just curious, Jeffrey, why you have chosen to do this? Does it provide a benefit to you somehow? I'm glad you're doing it. thanks...

  14. jeffrey Says:
    1347471538

@PatientSaver We're not sure if it will provide us with any benefits or not -- we mainly did it because it was the right thing to do since Nate doesn't have to spend nearly as much time on them as he did in the beginning.

Jeffrey, while we're on the subject of building more traffic here, is there currently a way that I'm not aware of to insert keywords or phrases for each post? You know, the way you can do on a Google blog. Ive never seen that here.

  16. jeffrey Says:
    1348075372

Have passed this on to Nate -- personally I'm not sure how much those matter these days. When they were first introduced, they were helpful because people were writing without putting the keywords into their posts, but now that everyone does this it is no different than having the search engines look at the article.

good thing I checked in, been busy and not blogging much lately. Setting up adsense now, but does someone want to give a 2 sentence description of what it is?

Am not terribly up to date on all things google, except that I do use google analytics (for seeing who/where clicks come from to my Etsy shop) and tried but disliked google adwords long ago.

thx, and am trying to get up to speed.

  18. jeffrey Says:
    1348085416

Adsense are the Google ads that display on your blog.

  19. pretty cheap jewelry Says:

OK, I am getting a new adsense account. I presume the ad size/ad design is already selected by savingadvice and that I do NOT have to pick what size or type to be shown on my blog. And sweet - my publisher code is there at the top and ready to go! See ya later!

  20. jeffrey Says:
    1348093951

Correct -- all you need to do is insert your code and everything is already taken care of.

  21. DayByDay Says:

  22. jeffrey Says:

    You are more than welcome.

  23. DayByDay Says:

Sorry to bug you, Jeffrey. I put my ID number in on 9/30, but my Adsense account is still showing "no data available." Now I've noticed that when I'm logged out of SavingAdvice, I don't see ads on my blog or on the blogs of those who posted above, but I do see ads on other various SA blogs.

Looks like there might be a glitch somewhere for those who entered Adsense IDs?

  24. jeffrey Says:
    1349199453

Sent to Nate and we'll see if we cna figure out what is going on.

  25. Permanent Temp Says:

I just tried to do this and it won't let me sign up the page. Did I do something wrong?

  26. jeffrey Says:
    1403813193

It seems it won't let you sign up for an account using this email address. However, if you make a blogger.com blog, you should be able to get a code from that, then use that code on this blog as well.
