Crayola Crayons Gift

November 11th, 2006 at 08:53 am

I've started to think about holiday gifts and one of my all time favorite ones to give is a 64 set of Crayola Crayons. I think they are the greatest gift to give because no matter how old someone is, they will bring a smile to the person's face. Of course, kids love them, but I also give them as gifts to adults (of course, the adult has to have a certain personality to appreciate them and not think you're absolutely nuts, but those who do will treasure them years later as one of their favorite Christmas gifts). There is just something about a box of them that brings a bit of joy upon seeing the box.

I think that they inspire imagination and that is what brings the joy no matter the age. It's that inspiration that I look for when I choose all my holiday gifts and what I find is that gifts that inspire often cost very little...

I loved getting the 64 pack when I was a kid. It was one of those gifts you could count on every Christmas.

I love crayons! I have a box someplace but I got cheap and got the walmart brand pffffffft. Next time it will be crayola all the way.

When I was a kid my parents would rarely ever get us the good box. Those 64 colour boxes are the best.

I've done those boxes as gifts along with the biggest pack of coloured construction paper that fits my budget as a present for the older than toddler but younger than teen set. Guaranteeed they are using it within hours.

The only other present that always goes over really well is the large plastic dinosaurs from the dollar store for a toddler boy. Put as many as your budget can afford into a pretty box and watch them get played with as soon as the box gets opened.

Okay, but all I am going to say is to please don't give crayons to a child younger than 5 years old. You'll be doing the parents a huge favor because it's a huge pain to try to scrub crayons off the wall. Stick Out Tongue

I LOVED crayons as a kid. (still do--and now colored pencils) But we only got one box and one coloring book. So I would eke out that pleasure by coloring soooooo carefully and only one slowly finished page at a time. It was like a world of color in a box. It was only as an adult with kids that I started coloring things odd colors. Green elephants, purple tigers, mucho fun.
